Carnival Girls

Today we took the whole gang to Carnival-London. Today was supposed to be children's day. We saw lots of kids but there weren't many things for them to do. Face painting was one of the only activities we could find for them to do. All in all, the people watching was excellent and the food smelled heavenly.

From Scratch
Worms!
Today we set up Red's worm farm and you wouldn't believe how fast to little buggers breed! It wasn't but 2 hours and we had more worms than we knew what to do with... so we all sat down and had a think. Red suggested that we go fishing, Sam suggested we take some out to the woods and set them free. I thought that we should bake up a traditional British dish - Megadrill Pie! Mmmmmmmmmmmm! ;)

Just kidding, In truth, whilst we did set up a worm farm we only wound up with one lonely worm named Alice. I hope we can find him/her some company soon. We did stumble upon a load of blackberries (the fruit, not the pricy smartphone that desperately is trying to develop iPhone features) and decided to make a cobbler (pictured above).
Little man and I threw rocks into Eagle Pond while Sammie, Red and Dinogirl braved the treacherous thorns and brambles of Epping forest to extricate the tasty little morsels for a fantastic and seedy treat!

No news is good news
I am conducting an experiment for the next couple of weeks. I am staying away from the news...burying my head in the sand so to speak. I read an article a while back about how the news effects your mental health. I will let you know how it goes.
PS... don't spill any of the beans - I just don't want to know!

The Sand Man

We took the kids back to Kensington/Hyde Park last weekend. I caught "Manny" playing in the sandbox.
I don't want to call the kids by their names so here are the new nicknames they will have on the blog
SRB = "Red" for obvious reasons ;)
HSB - "Gap Girl" - I think she looks like the kids used in the Gap ads
ECB - "Manny" - we call him "Little Man" but most of the time he's "Manny"

Funny
Did any of you see that the UK denied giving a visa to Martha Stewart? They gave us five... now that is funny! I suppose being sophisticated folks from Texas gave ua an unfair advantage (and no real jail time on our permanent records).
Sorry Martha, the Queen doesn't want to have tea with you ;)

Update
Warning, I am in the process of changing the name of my photography blog. I accidentally typed in the name without photography at blogspot and came across a not so child friendly (or Christian Adult) site. So now I am trying to come up with a new name. As soon as I have it back up and running, I will post the new address here.

New Blog
I've started a new blog where I can post my photography related stuff. I feel funny putting photos on this blog that aren't family or travel related.
So if you are interested in seeing the pics, come on over! If not, that's just fine ;)
I will continue to post pictures of the kids on this blog (don't worry).
The blog address is:

Congrats!
I have a few things to scream HURRAY about!
First: My nephew Charlie is graduating from Memorial High School tonight! WAY TO GO CHARLIE!!! Wish we were there to see you walk across the stage! Pictures please :) Big hugs to you!
Second: We have a new little niece. Levi and Jessica, can't wait to see pictures and get more information about how and when she arrived! I bet little Sophia Madelyn is beautiful. Love that name.
Happy Birthdays going out to my nephew Chris in the Navy, Uncle Aaron, and to Elizabeth our new neighbor.

Something to consider when you vote this year
In order to see a "REAL" Dermatologist here in the UK, there is a a NINE MONTH waiting list. To see a doctor that has "some" training" in dermatology it's over two weeks (if you can get your GP's office to make you an appointment in a timely manner (which I have yet to have happen and it's been almost a week). I'm glad we have private insurance in case an emergency ever pops up.

The weeds in my garden
I have hijacked Drew's computer today (don't worry, I called and begged him). I couldn't stand it any longer. I took some pictures of the kids outside in the garden ;P (my garden is filled with weeds by the way)... I had to download some temporary software to make it work. I miss Photoshop but this will have to do for now. My weeds are growing by leaps and bounds!

Woops!
Has is it really been that long since I made a post? What have I been doing???
My computer has been having some issues (I don't want to go into it - it's embarrassing) lets just say that we have to buy recovery software because of my overzealous purging of files ;) Please don't ask, it will make me cry (not really but maybe ;)
We have had the most FANTASTIC weather this week. The kids have been outside most of the day. It's been close to 80 degrees this week! Even now, it's 9:15 and you can still see outside - sun isn't all the way down. We are greeted with full sun when we wake up too. I think that we have run out of luck though...big chance of rain for the next 4 days :( I have learned to enjoy it while I've got it.
We had to run to Woolworths today (Woolworths!) literaly because it was about to close. We made it with plenty of time and nobody was complaining (not something that would have happened in the States - we hardly ever walked anywhere except the mall). It's great. On the way back, we saw some kids riding the coolest wooden bikes/trikes?? Why don't they have these back home (or do they and I'm just out of the loop?)

Watch the video. We will have to get one of these for Cael very soon!
I hope to have pics back up and running this weekend.
What have all of you been up to???? Let's talk :)

As promised!!!
Here are some pictures that in no particular order. Most I had intended to post right after they were taken but I never got around to putting them on the blog. They are not the greatest pictures but I like them. Some should probably be in the recycle bin but they are priceless to me. The first one describes or budget here in London!
